CREATIVE ARTS WORKSHOP FOR YOUNG PEOPLE
This four day workshop is a creative journey using guided visualisations. It will give young people the opportunity to devote time to themselves and their emotional well-being. The focus will be to create a calm and safe environment for participants to re-connect with their inner self.
The themes used for the visualisations are energy bodies, grounding and healing.
• The emphasis is on relaxation and enjoyment through the use of art materials.
• No art expertise is necessary but just a willingness to participate in this creative journey.
• Yoga style relaxation techniques are used in preparation for the visualisations.
• By accessing the subconscious in a relaxed state, participants achieve a greater sense of wholeness.
Frances Sweeney (MA in Art Ed) is an experienced Art Teacher with a wide range of teaching experience in a great variety of settings in Northern Ireland, Canada and the USA. She obtained her MA in Art Education at the Nova Scotia College of Art in Canada in 1990. While teaching and studying there she became very interested in using visualisations as a basis for creative work. She developed this further while teaching locally by developing an art programme “Art ForYou” to counteract the stress of intense exam preparation. To quote one student “….it was a very calming
and relaxing experience.”
This workshop is restricted to 12 participants so early booking is advisable.
