“UNFOLDING” A Group Experience
Margaret McKenzie & Deirdre Bannon
This group experience is offered in the form of an Art Therapy Forum which will provide an opportunity for participants to re-connect with and explore their own identity/ creativity on a weekly basis, within the safe environment of a small group setting, using art as a medium to facilitate the process.
Making marks is an activity common to all human beings. Since ancient times, humans have drawn, carved and scratched as forms of individual expression and communication.
Art Therapy involves the use of different art media through which a person can express and work through issues and concerns that are of relevance to her or him. The art process facilitates the emergence of inner experience and feelings and the art materials provide a tangible means through which conscious and unconscious aspects of the person can be expressed.
The emphasis throughout this programme is on self-expression, not on artistic skills or aesthetic standards.
“I would love to live like the river flows carried by the surprise
of its own unfolding.” John O’ Donohue
