The experience of Northern Ireland’s Troubles has left all who have been exposed to its legacy of personal and societal trauma with a challenge to move forward with our lives in a way which maximises our experience of healing at a deep level.
In recent times the challenge we all face in dealing with the fall out of recession, redundancy, job loss and their consequences at an individual, family and community level add a further layer to the challenge of healing.
The questions arise…
Is it possible to move from heartbreak to hope? Can we develop the muscle of resilience to cope with trauma and loss at so deep a level to allow it to transform our lives for the better? Can we, individually or as a community, make a vital difference to someone shattered by sudden change and the sense of loss it brings?
This Heartbreak to Hope workshop is designed to welcome persons from all walks of life and from all sectors of this increasingly ever more diversified population and will be of special interest to those who have been affected by bereavement. But loss has always been broader than bereavement and never more so than now.
Issues that will be dealt with in the workshop include:
- what gets in the way of healthy grieving?
- how do we deal with anger, guilt and fear?
- how can we harness the power of our own resilience to create a new life for ourselves and others?
Participants will be assisted to identify their own place on the path of loss, discover how they might grieve healthily, and move forward into a new normal.
