A Guided Tour of Historical Inishowen Peninsula – A Deeper Understanding of Shared History

During this full day tour, there will be visits to:

  • The unspoilt Inishowen Peninsula of North Donegal;
  • The spectacular fortress of An Grianan (‘The Sun Palace’) to recall the ancient kings of Ulster and enjoy panoramic views of Inishowen and the Maiden city;
  • Burt Castle with its dark history;
  • Fort Dunree on Lough Swilly and its associations with Wolfe Tone, the 1798 Rebellion and the Great War;
  • The Famine Museum at Doagh Island to recall the Great Famine;
  • Carndonagh with its early Christian crosses;
  • Greencastle with its Norman Castle.

(Some moderate walking will be involved so please come prepared.)
