Dr Éamon Phoenix
It is with delight that we welcome Dr Éamon Phoenix, Lecturer in History and Head of Life Long Learning at Stranmillis University College, Belfast, back to the Tara Centre.
The really good news is that Dr Phoenix has committed to offering more than one programme at Tara between now and the end of the present calendar year.
For starters, he will be with us in June to present an interactive one day seminar covering the years from 1912-1916 in the context of the present Decade of Centenaries. Given the Omagh venue, Éamon will reference key Tyrone figures active during those years.
The remit will also be broadened to include more widely known high-profile leaders and events such as Carson, Unionism, Home Rule, the Easter Rising, the Battle of the Somme, etc.
We are confident that Éamon will lead us into this challenging arena with his intimate knowledge of the subject from the perspective of both traditions…
