DIPLOMA IN PARENT MENTORING Outreach from ‘University College, Cork’ (UCC)
Dr Tony Humphreys Lorna Davis
This is a two year part-time diploma course in ‘Parent Mentoring’ and is being run as an outreach course from University College, Cork (UCC).
The core psycho-social unit in society is the family and recent Irish research has shown that the level of the emotional and social maturity of the parent is the main determinant of family well-being.
The two other principal factors of family well-being are the quality of relationships between family members and the degree to which conflicts are resolved.
A central theme of this course is that all parenting starts with self and an important aspect of the course is the participants’ continuing work on recognising and learning from their own vulnerabilities.
The course will provide participants with a solid and practical understanding of family dynamics and enable them to become effective trainers and mentors of parents.

The course is being offered on a part-time basis over two years. 12 modules will be completed (6 per year) and classes for
each module will be delivered over 2 two-day workshops. (Saturdays and Sundays, 10.00am – 5.30pm)
Cost: €3,000.00 (per year) paid directly to UCC (Concessions available from UCC and payment by instalments facilitated)
